Denise has been a member of our club since 1998 and has been on the BOM for the past 18 years. For her distinguished service to our club she was made a Life Member. Denise is a SLSA Level 3 coach and has been coaching ironman, swimming and boards for the past 20 years. From 2006 to 2010 she was SLSA's National High Performance Coach. Denise has won many awards for her service to surf life saving including SLSWA Coach of the Year (2012), SLSWA Volunteer of the Year (2004, 2012), SLSA National Volunteer of the Year (2012), SLSWA Presidents Medallion (2007, 2011).

Heather joined our club in 2005 with her husband Terry and 2 young boys Kane 8 and Darcy 6. After watching their boys train Heather was encouraged to complete her Bronze Medallion and start training herself. Over the years Heather has won a few state medals in board events. Heather’s many roles include Silver Medallion - Patrol Captain, Age Group Manager, Fun Run Committee member 6 years and now holding the role for the second year on the board as the Social Activities Director organising the amazing new commercial kitchen. Heather loves the friendly social side of the club, especially watching the sunsets on a Friday evening on the decking.

Adrian joined our club in 2011, achieved his Bronze Medallion in 2014 and has been volunteering as a Patrolling Member since. He is the Age Group Manager for U14 which his son Joel is in. Adrian’s wife Emily is Age Group Manager for U12 which their daughter Olivia is in. COB Surfclub has become the Doddy’s second home. The friendships formed and watching their kids achieve and become confident young people is what makes being a member all worth it for his family. Here’s to a successful 2019/2020 season!

Cate joined our club in 2007 when her son Matt started in Minnows. She started helping out in the bar in 2010 and took over its management 2011 and has been the manager ever since. In 2012 Cate stepped up to take on the role of Director of Administration and has been performing that role as well since then. Cate has always loved Sunday morning on the beach!

James has been a member of our club since 1998 and has been the Ski coach for the past 2 seasons as well as a Patrol Captain. James is an accomplished surf sports competitor having represented WA in 2004, 2005 and 2006. In 2006 he was state U19 champion in the Board, Ironman and Ski events. James has also won Silver and Bronze in various team and individual events over the years. He has competed in the Avon Decent since 2006 when he won his class and has placed several times since. In 2007 James competed in the gruelling Coolangatta Gold endurance race.

Neil joined the City of Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club in 2016 and is the proud parent of Nippers Jared (U10) and Lucas (U9). He started helping out as a parent during his sons’ Sunday morning sessions and his decision to take on the role of Director of Youth was to contribute more to the club and strengthen his involvement as a part of the close knit community. Neil has a strong competitive and coaching background in a variety of sports including competition swimming as a youth, Rugby Union, cricket and surfing. His extended family has a long and proud association with the club dating back 70 years, and Neil hopes to continue the family tradition.

Gary joined surf lifesaving as a nipper at Trigg Island SLSC in 1980. He commenced at City of Bunbury SLSC in 2003 and became IRB Officer. Gary has served on the Board of Management as the Director of Lifesaving in 2008 and Director of Education from 2009-2013. He achieved SLSWA and SLSA Training Officer of the Year in 2010 and SLSWA Training Officer of the Year in 2013. He has been a member of the South West Emergency Response Team since 2006. Gary has also been the South West Training Consultant from 2016 to 2019. Gary is a keen ski paddler and has been part of the ski team since 2004, currently completing at the State and Aussie Masters carnivals. Gary has been a surf sports official since 2012, officiating at state carnivals and Aussie Titles.

Samantha Harnett, joined the Club in 2004 after her daughter started Nippers. She became an Age Group Manager for the next 4 years for her daughters age group and completing Age Group Managers Award in 2006. Gaining her Bronze Medallion in 2005 she became a Patrolling Member and then Patrol Captain for the Club. Samantha became a Training Officer in 2008 for Bronze Medallion, Surf Rescue Certificate and Advanced Resuscitation Technique, which she continues to do as well as now being an Assessor for our Club and Surf Life Saving WA.

Jeff and his family joined the club in 2011 after moving from Victoria where they had been members of Anglesea SLSC. He completed his Bronze Medallion and IRB Crew in 2012, Senior First Aid in 2016 and Training Officer course in 2017. Jeff became Director of Education shortly after the commencement of the 2017/18 season.

Deb is currently a Year 6 teacher at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and is on the staff of School Sport WA Swimming Team currently preparing for the upcoming Schools National Swimming Competition in Melbourne. Deb’s family are very involved at Bunbury Swimming Club and they love the positive relationship that exists between our two community, aquatic clubs. The Saffy family has had several years enjoying all the City of Bunbury has to offer including Sunday Nippers, Country Champs, States and Aussies. They also love nothing more than a family friendly Friday night having a drink on the deck while watching the sun set over Back Beach. The Saffy’s have had the privilege of developing their life-saving skills through training programs accessible to all members and have had great fun patrolling the beaches with good friends. The COBSLSC is a wonderful community and Deb is looking forward to welcoming new members in the upcoming season and helping the club continue being a place where we all come together
